Hi All,

I have come across this site by accident why I was searching for Job Boards to post my CV too. I've been unemployed now 6 months and it's driving me up the wall!!! I've been registering with the Job Sites but so far not had any calls. I was suprised as I've been given one these voucher things from the Job centre and put that on my CV.

Is there any advice that you can give me on the best sites to put my CV on so that employers/recruiters can search it? The sectors I'm looking to work in are Administration, Customer Service and maybe Recruitment but as an adminstrator. I am based in Manchester if that helps!!!

Hope you don't mind me posting this and any help would be great, thank you and hope you have a good day.

Simon

Simon I know this doesnt help much but there are thousands of people looking for admin roles, you may want to try something else.

reed
monster
and GO into the offices of all the high street companies
-reed, pertemps, office angels, kelly etc

Plus the local no chain high street type companies.

And you will find a lot of that type of role in the evening paper.

and as craig said, every unemployed politics and media studies graduate is after those jobs as well.

hope that helps, its not my geography or skill set though.

Hi Simon,

You don't list which job sites you are using, but don't forget to use specialist sites as well. UK Recruiter has a directory of specialist sites at http://www.ukrecruiter.co.uk/jobboards/admin.htm

Best of luck,

Rob

Hi,

Thanks to you all who have posted, I've been to the sites listed on here and have registered with most of them. I use monster, CV Library, workthing I did sign up for e-cv's but after filling in the form says I need to pay.....I aint paying no one to put my CV in front of recruiters.

I am looking for the more specialist sites aswell so far I haven't had one phone call I've even sent my CV direct to recruiters, Just hope something comes along soon as it is so boring not working.

Thanks again to everyone and have a good day.

Simon

Hi Simon,

Please remember that job boards are only half of the equation. If the CV you upload isn't up to scratch then you are unlikely to get any calls.

In the current climate you will have a lot of competition and as such it is vital that your CV sells you. I suggest an achievement based CV that demonstrates how you have added value in your last roles.

Try starting with a punchy profile that really sells you, then a list of select, major achievements that shows how you have added value. This could be where you have indentified and resolved a flaw in the admin process, rescued a failing customer relationship, reduced costs, increased profits, reduced response times, improved customer satisfaction levels, won internal awards etc.... You get the idea....

Move onto your employment history followed by education and then additional information.

Remember that a CV needs to be inviting to read and easy to skim so use a professional font such as Arial and a decent font size too. Leave plenty of white space also.

Don't forget to spell check and proof read thoroughly.

Armed with a new CV you need to proactively market yourself. Think about your positive attributes and what you can offer to a potential employer.

Come up with your own marketing plan and get your name and CV out there. Use job boards, social networking sites and any other media you can think of. Try LinkedIn and Ecademy too.

Remember though, that finding a job IS a job. If you view it like this and commit the time to it you will be successful far more quickly than if you didn’t.

Sorry for "War and Peace" but hope this helps.

Good luck

Simon
I hate to sound negative, but truth is you will never get a job using the needle in the huge haystack method. Posting your CV on a jobs board is almost a complete waste of time.
As other people have commented every man and his dog is using this method.
Firstly - think what you wnat to do, where and how much you wnat to earn.
Then find a source of 'real' jobs. Advertisements in lcoal papers, employers own jobs boards and start making one by one focussed applications.
Go to the local recruitment agencies and show your face. Most agencies get so many CVs that are just chaff that they dont even read them.

Hi Simon
I work as a recruiter and look at lots of CVs every day. With hundreds of people looking for work at the moment, the main and very important fact is that you must have a very well written and presented CV! I work in Herts and candidates here can enter the training programe, where we help them to prepare for an interview and this includes CV writtting/improving. At present you must catch someone's attention otherwise your chances of getting a job are very low. Write a short but eye catching Profile about yourself, do not forget to include all the information about your emplyment history, your achievements, your skills etc. You must sell yourself, you must look keen, flexible and open to any additional training, if necessary.
Sometimes it takes time but you will get a job if you keep trying. Do not be put off by not being listed although you applied for a number od positions, just keep trying again and again. If I were you I would look in the local papers and apply for a job offer directly. Do not wait until someone finds you on CV database as some are better than the others. Everyone is choosing the same method, be different, use your contacts, plan your strategy and stick to it.

I hope this will help.
